Growing Information

• Sow outdoors in early to mid-spring
• Can also be started under cover in trays for an earlier crop
• Sow thinly in drills to raise young plants for transplanting
• Transplant when plants are around pencil thickness and approx. 8 inches tall
• Plant into holes around 4–6 inches deep
• Space plants around 8 inches apart
• Space rows around 24 inches apart
• Grow in a sunny position
• Add well-rotted organic matter before planting
• Water into planting holes after transplanting
• Earth up gradually as plants grow to help blanch the stems
• Harvest alternate plants when large enough
